Kevin, a cloud consultant and developer, shares three ways to build a thriving tech community without a formal title: 1. Build in public: - Be valuable before seeking value - Present at webinars, speak, and share knowledge - Promote events and community activities 2. Select, join, and be active in tech communities: - Audit communities to find those aligned with your interests - Participate in relevant events and programs - Contribute without requiring an official title 3. Contribute relentlessly: - Participate in open-source projects - Organize events - Help others solve problems Kevin emphasizes that anyone can contribute to the tech community, regardless of their position. He shares his personal experiences, including: - Recognition as a Cloud for Sky Ambassador in Kenya - Speaking at the AWS re:Invent Community Day in Nairobi - Becoming an AWS Community Builder - Organizing AWS Community Day Kenya - Being selected for the ALX Africa Open Source program - Speaking at Cloud Connect 2023 He encourages others to view the world as their stage and perform by contributing to various aspects of the tech community. Kevin mentions that he's the first Kenyan to speak at a Japan AWS User Group event, demonstrating that opportunities are available for those who actively engage in the community.
